Understanding the Difference between Muntins and Mullions

A window muntin is a vertical supporting barrier that divides glass panes in a window. This applies to the inner vertical pieces only, not the outer ones. The outer portion that forms the frame is called stiles and rails.

On the other hand, a window mullion is a single vertical bar that separates the two sides of a single window. These heavier elements appear to join two large windows to create one whole.

A Double-Hung Window…

A double-hung window is a popular choice among modern homeowners as it allows for more ventilation, ease of operation, and uncomplicated maintenance.

 

This window may feature either two square or rectangular panes of glass that slide up and down with the help of its mechanical parts.
